Gerald Wingrove, England

His extensive training and background experience was in industrial engineering. Early in his career, before becoming a famous maker of scratch built automotive miniatures he built ships, dioramas, film props, and was a pattern maker for Dinky Toys, Corgi Toys and others.

The late Lord Montagu of Beaulieu, the founder of England's National Motor Museum was a loyal patron of Wingrove's, and was the first person to commission a model car from him for the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu. Note that Wingrove received numerous commissions from Lord Montagu for the museum.

Wingrove has built his automobile models in two different scales, 1:20 and 1:15. Some models (in both scales) were curbside only, while others were fully detailed, and more than one of each was built of almost all of his models. He is most well known for his fabulous Duesenberg's and other classic car miniatures. Wingrove and his miniatures have appeared in numerous automobile magazines around the world. There have been four books published on Wingrove's models.

He was also very fortunate to have his wife involved with his work. She was responsible for creating all of his scale plans to make his models. Wingrove has retired from professional model making - no longer accepting any commissions. He and his wife are enjoying their retirement and relocation to the sunny coast of Spain where he continues to build for himself.
